This is a reprint of
an online article by Pat Simpson. Pat is the host of HGTVs popular
"Fix It Up!" program and he was attending the
OSH How To Fair with television co-host, Jodi Marks. In
the course of events, Jodi either asked to, or got gloated into,
climbing in the seat of the OSH-WW2 Racing Nostalgia Top Fuel
dragster for a "fire-up". After experiencing over 3000
horsepower, Jodi said she "loved it", but at the same
time it was also "terrifying". One can tell by the
photo below that the "loved it" part far outweighed
the "terrifying" part!
These are the kinds of
promotions that not only give Orchard Supply Hardware some great
television coverage, but also puts a very positive spin on the
increasing popularity of Nostalgia Drag Racing.
Hello
There!!!
I hope this update finds everyone
well and happy!
If I've said it once, I've said
it a million times...Jodi will try anything once!! While we were
in Pleasanton, California last week at the OSH How To Fair, we
had a chance to visit with our friend, and dragster driver, Jim
Murphy. He rockets regularly in the OSH Top Fuel dragster. In
fact, he holds at least 3 world-records in that rail.
Jodi decided that she wanted
to be in the dragster when Jim fired it up for exhibition. He
gave her a 5-minute "do's and don't's" briefing, placed
her behind the wheel, and fired that engine up. IT WAS AWESOME!!
Thank goodness for ear protection...and a respirator. It runs
off of nitro-methane. Jodi swears she'll never do it again.
In this photo, Jodi is all smiles
with Jim, before she experiences, as she put it, "one of
the most terrifying experiences of my life." Once again,
she's a GREAT sport. Thanks Jim!

As a youngster, Jodi Marks learned
all about home repair and remodeling. She was her dad's right
hand, helping with everything from holding the flashlight to
painting and nailing. After Jodi graduated from college, her
father made her project manager for his construction firm. She
was also acting in local plays and commercial spots, and when
HGTV named her as co-host of Fix It Up!, the two worlds
collided. When she's not in the studio, Jodi loves to fly fish,
camp, hike, play with her daughter and change the paint colors
in her home. Jodi can also be seen as the host of Turner's Southern
Home By Design. Jodi Marks on Turner Jodi Marks on HGTV
